Offer Agreement
What making an offer commits you to, when it becomes binding, and how to get out of one before it does. Read with the Terms of Service and the Buyer Protection Policy.
1. The short version
An offer is yours to take back until the seller answers it. Once they accept, you are committed to buying the collection, and paying is what completes the sale. Those two sentences are the whole agreement. Everything below says how each of them works.
2. What an offer is
An offer is a firm proposal to buy the entire collection at the price you name. It is not an enquiry and it is not a starting position for a conversation — the collection comes off the marketplace the moment a seller accepts, and they are entitled to expect you to complete the purchase.
You may offer on a collection where the seller has enabled offers. The amount must be at or above the floor shown on the form and at or below the asking price. There is one offer per buyer per collection at a time.
3. Taking it back
You may withdraw your offer at any time until it is answered. No reason is needed and there is no cost. Withdraw it from the listing or from your offers page and it is over.
An offer you do not withdraw expires by itself after 48 hours if the seller has not answered. A seller may decline it at any point before that.
Once a seller has accepted, it cannot be withdrawn. That is the point at which it stops being an offer, and the marketplace refuses the attempt rather than asking us to arbitrate it afterwards.
4. Acceptance binds you
When a seller accepts, you have made a binding commitment to buy that collection at that price, and the collection is reserved for you. The listing comes off the marketplace and the seller is told to expect payment.
Acceptance commits you to the purchase. Paying completes it. The cards are not yours until you have paid — until then what exists is your commitment and the reservation it earned you. Section 5 says when payment is due and section 6 says what happens if it does not come.
The accepted amount is the sale price. Our fee, sales tax and delivery are calculated from it, and the figures you are shown at checkout follow from it rather than from the original asking price. The $2.99 TCG Bolt marketplace service fee is added on top, as it is on every order. The fee shown when you make an offer is the fee you pay if it is accepted: a change to it afterwards does not reach an offer already made.
5. Payment is due at once
Payment is due on acceptance, not at your convenience. We take you to checkout as soon as you open the accepted offer, and the sale is complete when you have paid.
You are given 24 hours from acceptance before the reservation lapses. That is grace, not an entitlement to wait — the collection is off the marketplace for the whole of it, and every other buyer on it is waiting on you.
Nothing is charged when you make an offer, and nothing is charged when it is accepted. No card is held and no payment method is stored against an offer. You pay at checkout, in the ordinary way, and Section 10 of the Terms sets out where that money goes.
6. If you do not pay
The reservation lapses when the 24 hours run out. The collection returns to the marketplace at its asking price, the offer is recorded as expired, and both of you are told.
The failure is recorded against your account. An accepted offer that goes unpaid is not a neutral event: a seller lost the sale, turned away other buyers, and got nothing. One is a mistake and we treat it as one. A pattern of them is a reason to stop an account offering, or to close it under Section 14 of the Terms.
Returning the listing to the marketplace is the seller’s only remedy for an unpaid offer. Neither HaulX LLC nor the seller will pursue you for the purchase price, or for damages arising solely from an accepted offer you did not pay. We charge no fee for one.
That limit is the same in the Seller Agreement, so a seller reads it before they accept rather than after somebody has let them down.
7. When somebody else’s offer is accepted
Your offer is put on hold, not declined. It stays yours while that buyer has their 24 hours, and you may withdraw it in that time exactly as before.
If they pay, the collection is sold and your offer is declined. If they do not, the collection returns to the marketplace and your offer goes live again, with the time it spent on hold added back to it — none of that time was yours to use. The seller can then accept it.
Nothing is charged while an offer is on hold, and being outbid is not recorded against you in any way.
8. When the seller is the one offering
A seller may answer your offer with a counter, which is an offer to you at their price. Everything above applies with the sides reversed: they may withdraw it until you answer, you may accept or decline it, and your acceptance binds you the same way theirs would.
Countering ends the offer it answers. There is nothing left to accept underneath a counter, in either direction.
9. What we do and do not decide
HaulX LLC operates the marketplace where the two of you agree a price. We are not a party to the sale, we do not set the price, and we do not accept or decline on anybody’s behalf.
What we do is enforce the mechanics on this page: refusing a withdrawal after acceptance, reserving the collection, running the clock, and returning the listing to the marketplace when it is not paid for.
10. What this does not change
Buying through an offer buys the same protection as buying at the asking price. The manifest guarantee, the inspection window and the returns process are the same, and are set out in the Buyer Protection Policy. An offer you have paid for is a sale like any other, and final in the sense that policy describes — you cannot return a collection because you changed your mind about the price you named.
